If you received a summons for a Vehicle and Traffic offense, you may enter a plea of guilty or not guilty by mail or email, no pleas will be accepted verbally. All Village Ordinances must appear in court on the date entered on the bottom of the summons.

Warning: Failure to respond to a summons may result in the suspension of your driver's license and/or a warrant may be issued for your arrest.

Pleading Guilty by Mail

If you plead guilty or not guilty by mail, before the court date listed on your summons, you do not have to appear in court on your court date. If you plead not guilty by mail you will be notified by mail with a date for a conference with the Village Prosecutor and a Judge. If you plead Guilty by mail, and did not enclose payment, you will receive an invoice from the court.

VTL 319-1 (No Insurance)

If you receive a ticket for VTL 319-1 (no insurance), the only proof of insurance the court will accept is a letter from your insurance company, stating the vehicle in question was insured, with no lapse in coverage, on the date indicated on the summons.

Note: A letter from an insurance broker and/or insurance cards will not be accepted.

Court Hours

Court is normally in session Wednesday evenings (by appointment only) in the courtroom next to the Village Hall (1 Store Hill Road, Old Westbury, New York). The Court Clerk's Office is open weekdays 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept payment of fines and to provide information about cases. 

Payment Forms

Fines may be paid by cash, money order or credit card, (visa or master card only). Parking tickets can be paid by cash or money order only. We do not accept credit cards for parking payments.
